The samples of waste received are analysed in our laboratories to determine the best treatment. We provide specific solutions for each kind of waste and we offer quality, reliability, and state-of-the-art technology. Pre-treatmentAs we have to treat and manipulate waste prior to treatment, DISTILLER S.A. has 6 reactors with different features that enable waste to be treated in the best possible conditions. We include in our pre-treatment processes: - Neutralisation of acid and alkaline products
- Initial water elimination
- Creation of an Inert atmosphere
- Deodorisation
EliminationDISTILLER S.A. manages the disposal of its non-recoverable wastes. These are taken to energy recovery plants and incinerators, physical and chemical treatment plants or sent to land-fills depending on the kind of waste. There are several means of waste disposal: IncinerationNon-recoverable wastes are treated by incineration. Waste is placed in a rotary oven where combustion takes place at 1200 ºC. thereby obtaining the complete oxidation of organic substances The flue gases generated are passed through a heat exchanger which converts the heat into steam. The steam is then converted into energy by a turbine. Excess gases are treated before emission using electrostatic filters, catalysts, and gas scrubbers in accordance with the EU Waste Incineration Directive currently in force Physical and chemical processWhen waste fulfils the necessary specifications, DISTILLER S. A. manages its removal to physico-chemical treatment plants. The emulsified waste is separated by a process of precipitation which may be assisted with the use of flocculants. When the different phases (solid and liquid) have been obtained, they are treated separately. Inertisation is used to eliminate the solid phase. The aqueous phase is treated using a biological treatment process in which the organic pollutants in the wastewater are eliminated. Once the water has been treated, the effluent is disposed of in accordance with EU regulations currently in force. Energy valorizationDISTILLER S.A. manages the transport of non-valorized wastes that are free from halogenated, heavy metals and have a high LHV (lower heating value) to cement works where they are reused as combustible energy. The cement manufacturing process requires large quantities of combustible energy. The substitution of coke for raw materials of similar characteristics enables by-products, which might otherwise be disposed of, to be recovered. As a result, reliance on traditional fuel resources is reduced, the consumption of natural resources minimised, and products that may have been considered obsolete reused. By using these waste-derived products we contribute to reducing energy consumption in heavy industry such as cement manufacturing. |
